It is both tarnish and fire scale resistant... Argentium Silver has less copper by content than standard sterling and so does not tarnish as much as standard does. This is not to say that it does not tarnish at all, it just tarnishes less, and when it does is easier to polish than standard sterling. It is more pure than standard sterling silver, coming in at .930 to .945 purity depending on foundry where manufactured (standard sterling is only .925)... Ours here is .935... Jewelry made with this wire will remain beautiful without the need of polishing far longer than standard sterling jewelry does... all you really ever need do to keep it clean and bright is wipe it with a clean cloth every now and again. If it does require any polishing, use a standard silver polishing cloth (available from any jeweler)...
