Item description
Spectacular mid-1920s color-tinted studio photograph of four young, pretty girls from Milford, Connecticut. This is definitely a showcase quality portrait. The girls include Polly Ann Warner, Rita Jean Trueman (married name Hallman), Catharine Trueman, and Josephine Elizabeth "Betty" Woodruff (married name Johnson.) Betty was the daughter of Harold Frank Woodruff who operated the nationwide vegetable seed catalog business F.H. Woodruff Sons based in Milford, Connecticut. This photo comes from the family estate. Measures approximately 8 x 10 including border. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. It is in excellent condition. Comments: This photo originally came in a Woodruff / Washburn family collection of images (sold individually) which included: Frank Henry Woodruff, Harold Frank Woodruff, Josephine Elizabeth Woodruff (Betty), Jeanette Washburn Woodruff, Susan Woodruff Abbott, H.G. Washburn, Gerard Washburn, Grace ONeil Washburn, and Margarite (?) Washburn. Frank Henry Woodruff was the founder of a vegetable seed business empire based in Milford, Connecticut known as F.H. Woodruff Sons. His sons William and Harold eventually took over the business.
