In 1886, he established his factory and headquarters on 6th Street and Broadway in Los Angeles. For the factory to operate he relied on the milk of over 6000 cows to produce 1.5 tons of butter per day. His operation also consisted of twenty-five horses that were used on site and for delivery of the butter. He married Linnie Victoria Halliday from Massachusetts and they had seven children.
