Item description
This is a hardcover book, H.P. Lovecraft's Book of Horror. It was published in 1993 by Barnes Noble Books, edited by Stephen Jones and Dave Carson (who is also credited for illustrations in the book). "H.P. Lovecraft’s Book of Horror is a connoisseur’s collection of classic chillers that have withstood the test of time. Hand-picked by horror master H.P. Lovecraft in his landmark essay 'Supernatural Horror in Literature,' these twenty-one masterpieces of the macabre rank among the best weird tales written in the last two centuries. The selections span the globe and express all of horror fiction’s most memorable themes.
The cornucopia of terrors includes "The Signalman" by Charles Dickens, "The Body Snatcher" by Robert Louis Stevenson, "The Spider" by Hanns Heinz Ewers, "The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe, "The Horla" by Guy de Maupassant, "The Damned Thing" by Ambrose Bierce, "The Mark of the Beast" by Rudyard Kipling, "The Hog" by William Hope Hodgson, "The Great God Pan" by Arthur Machen, "Count Magnus" by M.R. James, and more. "Featuring irresistible storytelling and unspeakable scares, H.P. Lovecraft’s Book of Horror is your recommended reading list for the best—and darkest—in world literature."
Dust jacket shows some wear, mostly along the top edge, but there are no rips or tears or anything like that. Also on the top of the book there are some spots, as you can see in the photo (not sure what that is since the book has just been sitting on a shelf for years, but somehow it got a little dirty); it really does not look as bad in real life as it does in the picture. Inside, the book itself is in excellent condition with very clean pages, no writing in it or anything like that. Asking $5.00 obo. Everything I have listed for sale is "or best offer", so feel free to make an offer.
