Item description
Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US title lobby card from the 1930's post-WWI themed drama/romance, THE ROAD BACK, released in 1937 by Universal Pictures and directed by James Whale.
This sequel to Lewis Milestone's All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) was based upon the novel, "Der Weg zurück," also by Erich Maria Remarque, in which German soldiers who survived World War I on the Western Front struggle to adjust to civilian life in the months following the Armistice of November 11, 1918.
This title lobby card was printed for the film's 1939 theatrical re-release by Universal (billed as "The Outspoken Version") only two years after the original 1937 release. The image depicts various scenes from the film and features rich, bold colors. It is unrestored in very fine condition.
