Vintage original 27x41 in. US single-sided advance one-sheet poster from the classic epic 1980's sci-fi action/adventure film, DUNE, released in 1984 by Universal Pictures and directed by David Lynch. Based upon the novel by Frank Herbert, a Duke's son (Kyle MacLachlan) leads desert warriors against the galactic emperor (Jose Ferrer) and his father's evil nemesis to free their desert world from the emperor's rule. The cast includes Sting, Patrick Stewart, Brad Dourif, Linda Hunt, Freddie Jones, Richard Jordan, Virginia Madsen, Silvano Mangano, Everett McGill, Kenneth McMillan, Jack Nance, Jurgen Prochnow, Dean Stockwell, Max von Sydow, Alicia Witt, and Sean Young. The design features beautiful artwork depicting Paul Atreides (Kyle MacLachlan) surveying the area in front of him while Lady Jessica (Francesca Annis) and a huge army of people stand at-the-ready behind him. Rolled and unrestored as originally issued, it is in very fine condition with a few scattered creases in the borders and some smaller creases in the image area, simply from handling over time. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws. Writer and director David Lynch turned down Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) to direct this movie, telling George Lucas, "It's your thing, it's not my thing."
