Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the classic 1980's Vietnam-themed war drama biopic, BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY, released in 1989 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Oliver Stone. Based upon the autobiographical book by Ron Kovic, who was paralyzed in the Vietnam war, he (as portrayed by Tom Cruise) becomes an anti-war and pro-human rights political activist after feeling betrayed by the country he fought for. The cast includes Bryan Larkin, Raymond J. Barry, Caroline Kava, Josh Evans, Seth Allen, Jamie Talisman, and Sean Stone. The design features a very close shot of Ron Kovic (Tom Cruise) with an American flag superimposed over him. Unrestored and rolled as originally issued, this vintage original one-sheet is in very fine- condition with light signs of wear on the top right and bottom corners with some small light surface creases from handling over time. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws and the color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.Born on the Fourth of July earned an Academy Award for "Best Director" for Oliver Stone and the "Best Film Editing" Award for David Brenner and Joe Hutshing.
