Item description
Vintage original 7.5 x 9.5 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the lavishly mounted silent film costume drama/romance, MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE, released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Sidney Olcott. The film stars Rudolph Valentino as a French barber, Monsieur Beaucaire, and his alter-ego, the Duke de Chartres.
The image features a close publicity shot of the handsome Duke de Chartres (Rudolph Valentino), depicted in profile, wearing a very elegant period French costume which is a testament to Paramount's costume designers at the time. It is in fine+ condition with a few small creases and light ink smudges to the left of his forehead in the background area; a few scratches from handling over time; and a little bit of wear on the top right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws and the image quality is razor-sharp with very fine detail and beautiful contrast.
