Welcome to my Dusty Delights!
I used to spend the summers with my grandparents on the Oregon coast and absolutely loved it!! Back then, there weren’t too many activity or social options for seniors. Add an inquisitive, thrill seeking 8 year old redhead to the mix and it could have been a total disaster. Fortunately, my grandparents were Old World Geniuses!
Every morning started with a huge bowl of oatmeal, a newspaper, and colored markers. We would mark out targets such as estate sales, yard sales, moving sales, swap meets, thrift stores, charity sales – you name it. We would get decked out in our “not so nice clothes” (closed toed shoes required) and head off on a grand adventure. We never knew where we would end up or what treasures we would find, but I was addicted from Day 1.
My kids are now grown and a new batch of curiosity seekers are coming up in the family. The “Tresure Bug” has finally bitten my husband and we are training the next generation of adventure seekers in honor of my grandparents’ tradition.
We use tablets and laptops now. There is no way I’m giving these little monsters colored markers!
