If you feel we should be environmentally friendly managers of the earth with which we’ve been entrusted, you’re not alone. Teena Stewart, the artist/author behind Serendipitini, is an avid recycler who also believes this is important. She incorporates creative reuse into the majority of her handmade gifts. Many of her creations involve turning trash into treasure and she especially loves using recycled glass (especially old wine bottles), found objects, wire and other items destined for the trash.

When Teena, who holds a BA in art and is a graphic design major, became serious about studio arts and entrepreneurship, she decided to create a blog about her creative endeavors and wanted to use the word Serendipity, which means 1) an aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident. 2) good fortune; luck. This seemed fitting because she was always stumbling upon and rescuing things and incorporating creative reuse. Unfortunately, the name was already taken so she coined a new word—Serendipitini.
Serendiptini combines the original word and adds a -tini on the end. The result is something that sounds like unexpected discoveries, a mixed drink, and tinkling glass—appropriate since much of her work incorporates recycled items including glass. It started with mixed media artwork, and rescued furniture, but has gravitated to gift items reusing recycled glass, wire, and more. Today, Teena has three major focuses for her handmade creations:
Gifts for pet lovers (pet jewelry, pet coasters, and pet ornaments)
Gifts incorporating recycled glass (suncatchers, wine bottle candles, ornaments, and jewelry)
Mixed media artwork and upcycled household decor and gift items (made from whatever she rescues and transforms)
