Item description
Collection of 207: Ivano Gambini Bookplates - 1920s
Estate collection of original, unused xilografia (woodcut) bookplates by Italian artist Ivano Gambini. Gambini (1904 - 1992) was known primarily as an architect, ceramics decorator, and muralist (he also represented Italy as an Olympic athlete). He joined the Futurist art movement in 1928 and was one of the first artists to employ air-brushing as a creative technique. At least one of the bookplates is stamped "XILOGRAFIA I. Gambini" on the back. All are unused and in new condition. Some are multi-colored, most are in black ink on colored paper.
Rare find! In dark blue leatherette album with plastic holders for display.
