DETAILS These are replacement plugs for the original factory GM 20 or 21 pin plugs found on the radio wiring harness of many 1988-2002 (and beyond, in some cases) vehicles. Wiring pigtails of approximately 6 inches are attached. These would be used if your original plugs were cut off and you are trying to install a factory radio in the vehicle. There was only one style of 20/21-pin plug offered by GM, so if you've counted 20 or 21 metal pins in your radio main connector, this is probably the harness kit you need. However, please note that one of the plugs is not included with this harness. It is the plug with the steering wheel control wire in it, which is rarely used. Your steering wheel controls, if present, will not work with this harness. These plugs will have the aftermarket standard wire colors, so wire assignment is relatively easy to identify on the plug side. (See the standard color chart in the pictures attached to this listing.) Identification of GM specific wires, as well as wires on the vehicle side will be up to you. One other note: Our supplier sometimes casts the plug itself in a different color plastic. Obviously that has no impact on use. This style of plug was used on most Cadillac, Buick, Chevy, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac radios, starting in 1988. However, other plugs were offered in vehicles with special sound systems so make sure to check your plugs if your system is labeled as anything special. APPLICATIONS If your vehicle is on this list, you can use this plug set, provided your vehicle wasn't equipped with a special sound system (like Bose). If you're unsure, check your radio to make sure it will accept these. As noted above, this plug set does not support steering wheel controls. The radio will still function. You just won't be able to control it from your steering wheel. Please note it was not uncommon for GM to switch plug styles in the middle of a model year. So, in some cases, not all cars on this list will have the 12-prong plug in the last year listed. (If you have a 1990 Camaro, for example, you will want to make sure your car does not have the older 12-prong plug before purchasing this plug set.)
