Item description

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm by Kate Douglas Wiggin Grosset Dunlap, First Photoplay Edition (1917) Condition: Very Good+ First published in 1903, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm was an immediate success and has not been out of print in the last 110 years. The first illustrated edition was in connection with the play version in 1910 (this copy retains the "Publisher's Note" from that edition). One of the first movie versions of the novel starred Mary Pickford (who is shown in eight full-page stills from the film); this was also one of the earlier G D Photoplay Editions. The book has an illustrated front cover and a decorated spine, though this copy lacks the seldom-seen dust jacket. There is slight wear on the spine ends and cover corners, but little evidence of wear on the interior, though the pages are toned and a name is written on the ffep. The binding is secure, and no gutter splitting was found. An unusually nice copy of a scarce century-old edition of this children's classic. (Also, search "poor little rich girl pickford" for another Mary Pickford photoplay edition available from this booth.)
