Item description

THE SKETCH BOOK by Washington Irving Easton Press, Limited Edition, 1967 Condition: Near Fine Under the pseudonym "Geoffrey Crayon", Irving's THE SKETCH BOOK is widely regarded as the first substantial American prose classic, and two of its stories, '"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle", were among the most popular fictions in the early history of our country. There are 31 other pieces as well in this 399-page book, which has all the usual Easton Press deluxe features. Scottish-American artist Gordon Ross has provided many full-page and smaller illustrations, many in the style of old English sporting prints. Virtually no wear, except for some small abrasions on the front paste-down from removing a price label.
