Vintage Pewter Graduation Owl Miniature Figurine Cap Diploma Graduate Smart Wise Old Owl Senior Year High School College Student Diamond Cuts Signed Copyright Mortarboard Cap Tassle Three Dimensional 3D Silver Tone Metal This is an adorable vintage intricately detailed miniature pewter or pewter color metal owl figurine wearing a mortarboard graduation hat or cap with a tassel. There is a diploma next to the owl. The word diploma is written on it and there is a copyright symbol. It has a date or initials under the word DIPLOMA, but I am unable to read it. I believe it is from the 1970s or 1980s, although it may be earlier. I have been unable to find another one like it, it is quite unique. The three dimensional owl stands approximately 1 inch tall and 1 inches wide. It is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. The pewter has a lovely dark patina to it. The wings have diamond cuts on them which give it a great shine and textured depth to the feathers. I believe this is pewter, but I can't be positive. A magnet does not stick to it. The owl even has feet on the bottom. There is a very tiny air hole in the top of the owl's forehead just under the cap (see arrow in picture), but I think that has always been there and may be from the creation of the piece. You don't see it without magnification. This is a perfect gift for anyone who collects owls. What fun it would be to give this to someone special to help celebrate their graduation day and as a keepsake reminder of that special day.
