This is a Hard-To-Find, VINTAGE, EXCELLENT Condition, Signed, Marked “Russian Black Lacquer Hinged Lidded Snow Maiden With Rabbits Small Storage Stash Trinket Jewelry Box" that was hand-crafted the Village of Cherypoyka in the USSR, by the skilled Artist Netera in the early-1970s. Purchased by my neighbor during a diplomatic trip to Russia in 1971, this STUNNING Box has been displayed inside a glass cabinet for over 40 years. It is in EXCELLENT Condition with NO chips, cracks, crazing or other damage; it comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. This Casket Coffin Shaped Box measures approximately 1 inch tall, approximately 3 inches long, and approximately 1 1/2 inches wide; it is Signed and Marked in Russian cyrillic letters. The Hinges work smoothly and the inside of the box is painted red. With an EXQUISITE miniature landscape hand-painted Fairy Tale motif that extends across the entire lid, it depicts a woodlands scene featuring The Snow Maiden and two rabbits. This Folk Art Fairy Tale design scene is highly detailed and full of symbolism. Painted with VIBRANT Colors in snowy white, earthy browns, glimmering gold, peaceful blues, crimson red, soft grey and blushing pink against a black lacquer background, this Box shows The Snow Maiden surrounded by they snowy branches of evergreen fur trees with two bunny rabbits at her feet. The edges have a hand-painted gold squiggle design and it is Signed and Marked below the painting. This BEAUTIFUL piece of Russian Folk art expresses the artistic impulse of the artisan who created a decorative object with a fanciful motif that imparts a poetic view of the world through the prism of a Russian Fairy Tale.
