Item description

Today’s offering is a beautiful Viking inspired genuine Baltic Amber Brooch Chain with a variety of mixed beads and metal accents. This chain can double as a swag piece pinned on a woman’s Viking apron with a pair of Viking turtle brooches above the pewter floral pins.. This is my more modern interpretation of what a wealthy Viking woman's little girl might have worn about 1000 AD. Not only did they love the natural amber gems that captures the warmth of the sun, but they had a great appreciation for other gemstones and metals such as gold and silver and the creative influences from foreign lands that fashioned much of the jewelry of their time. Among many of the historical grave finds where items such as brooches, earrings, necklaces, pins, whalebone combs as well as some everyday items that they would’ve used. My pricing reflects the availability and cost of gemstones, new and vintage beads and other distinguishing materials available at the time of creation, the design and quality of materials. Some pieces are designed with less than perfect inclusions, antique and manufactured techniques to make them appear aged. However, some metal findings are meant to look old, rough and worn which does not detract from the overall appearance but rather enhances the individual uniqueness of each piece. I use new items, but occasionally I will incorporate recycled vintage into my designs that have stood the test off time. I use only natural and organic materials whenever possible, this is to included semi-precious and precious stones beads, freshwater pearls, wood, glass, (due to expense, a limited amount of handcrafted hand-blown glass beads) sterling silver, pewter silver and combined mixed metals strung on jewelry wire; and of course genuine Baltic Amber in my Viking designed pieces. You are not purchasing just a piece of jewelry, but a wearable art piece expressing who you are. These are NOT “mass” produced items from China, but a handcrafted cottage industry product made by me and are one-of-a-kind. Thank you for your understanding. THE DETAILS: This brooch chain measures 13" inches long when laid out open and flat. Frosted glass, cobalt glass, clear glass, wood, mother of pearl, genuine Baltic amber beads with an Arabic stamped coin pendant. Both sterling silver, pewter silver and mixed metal pendants are on this piece. Vikings traded with the Arabs and therefore some jewelry pieces will reflect some items that were used and found in grave sites such as coins.
