USS KITTY HAWK CV-63 PLAT CAMERA DVD RARE This is a DVD of the view from the PLAT camera of flight deck operations during the WESTPAC cruise 1977-78. The DVD was transfered from a Betamax tape. The footage is raw and not in order as the begining of the tape was recorded over during the cruise so the dates are not in order. The DVD shows take offs and landings of A6 Intruder, A7E Corsair II, F14A Tomcat, EA-6B Prowler, E-2C Hawkeye, S-3A Viking, and EA-3B Skywarrior aircraft. There are some scenes of the shellback iniation (but you can't see much), a couple of night launches, and flight deck activity as well as the ship just sailing with no other activity. There are NO scenes of accidents or incidents. The audio was supposed to be from a radio station, but most of the time it is not tuned properly. I left it the way it recorded. The legend shows the date and time. The 63 is USS Kitty Hawk's number. Sometimes you will see the "0" to the left of the 63 blink between "0" and "W". This indicates a Wave-Off of the approaching aircraft. Anothe number is the airspeed of the aircraft. Below are captured frames from the disc and a scan of the disc.
