Item description

In this booklet there are three lists of persons living in what is now Mifflin County. Pages 2 - 16 list 1650 names taken from the Cumberland Co. tax rolls 1767-1789, from state militia rolls 1777-1782, from lists of township officers and from state land records. Pages 17 - 21 list 528 names taken from a combined list of names in the 1790 Federal Census and the 1790 Mifflin County tax rolls. Pages 22 - 32 list 600 houses standing in 1798 according to the Federal Direct Tax (the "window" tax) as recorded in the National Archives at Washington. The names of residents and a description of each house are given. This also includes what is now Mifflin County, except for eastern Decatur Twp.
