Item description
"The Mother's Magazine" - March 1913 Issue - Old Ads, Articles, Fashions, Stories of Yesterday, from the era of the Titanic, between the "Belle Epoch" and the "Roaring 20's"
From David C. Cook, a Christian publisher, with articles from all walks of women's / mother's lives. The ads are fun to look at, and imagine what life was like. A Wrigley's Chewing Gum ad claims it's good for cleaning children's teeth. Many ad for ladies' fashions of the day, along with ones for cooking utensils, food, sewing machines, washers, furniture and chicken coops. A Cream of Wheat ad is on the edge of political correctness. One article having to do with increasing the size of a lady's bust (to fit the fashions of the day) was amusing. There are stories, poems and even a song. One long article concentrates on women's rights in marriage.
Neat for collectors, costume designers, scrapbookers, etc.
I have more fun collectibles. Please see my other listings.
