Item description

The Immaculate Conception ?8.5x11" Print The Immaculate Conception is a Catholic doctrine that Mary was a pure, spotless vessel for the Lord to enter this world. She lacked original sin. The Catechism says, ?Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, "full of grace" through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception.? The Feast Day is celebrated December 8 in the West, December 9 in the East.In this beautiful holy card from around the turn of the last century, we have a praying Mary in blue with a gold mandorla. She has the moon under her feet as in Revelation 12:1, and she is crushing the serpent as she stands over the world. It is fairly unusual in Catholic art for Mary to be portrayed as blonde, but it adds to the beauty of this card. Published by The Societe of St Augustin, they also published Catholic books in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their books carry Paris as the imprint, but they issued stock for their company in Bruges, Belgium, the location of the ?Little Parie? mentioned on the card.We print it on special art paper with archival quality pigments, rated to last for many generations without fading when kept out of the direct sun. Standard size. Easy to find a ready-made frame at your local Hobby Lobby or online.? 8.5 x 11" acid-free paper? Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.? Cardboard backer? Above story of the art? Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.** IMPORTANT ** There is about an inch-and-a-third of white space around the picture, so the image is smaller than the paper.
