Item description

The Chancellorsville Campaign 1863 Hardcover Book 1st Print 1991 NEW UNREAD Published in 1991 by Combined Books, this is a hardcover, first printing, dust jacketed trade size copy by David G. Martin. It contains pages of photos, sketches, facts and the history of the Battle of Chancellorsville, a major battle of the American Civil War, fought from April 30 to May 6, 1863, in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, near the village of Chancellorsville and the area from there to the east at Fredericksburg. The battle pitted Union Army Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker's Army of the Potomac against an army half its size, Gen. Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. It is known as Lee's "perfect battle" because of his risky but successful division of his army in the presence of a much larger enemy force. Lee's audacity and Hooker's timid performance in combat combined to result in a significant Union defeat. The Confederate victory was tempered by the mortal wounding of Lt. Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson to friendly fire, a loss that Lee likened to "losing my right arm.". This is a near mint, unread, original shrink wrapped copy from our files where it has been stored for many years since we purchased it new for the purpose of resale. We are adding hundreds of new items every month so check back often for our current auctions and our store for other great items, including additional hardcover books, graphic novels and other military related merchandise. We are offering media mail as an option. Be aware that it is cheap because it is very slow and low priority by the post office and can take 30 days or more for delivery. You may combine this with our other auctions to save on total shipping costs, but we have to do the calculations as cannot. Buyer pays calculated shipping and handling fee for postage to a U.S. address which includes delivery confirmation. International shipments and other forms of delivery may be more. We will combine multiple auction wins to help reduce total shipping and handling fees whenever possible. To receive a combined shipping total (combined means reduced, not free) do the following: Click add to cart for the items you want; DO NOT click buy it now; when you have everything you want go to your cart and click the link to ask for total to the top right of your list if you are on a computer; if you are on your phone or a tablet, log in to using a browser window; for Chrome touch the three dots in the lower right hand corner and look for the request stop site option; for Safari touch the AA in the upper left corner and look for the request desktop site option and for Firefox touch the three dots in the upper right hand corner and look for the request desktop site option; once you switch to the desktop site, go back to your cart and the request total from seller option should be visible; we then get that request and combine your orders to reduce the shipping and then sends you a revised invoice to pay. Over 99% of all orders ship within one business day from the date of your payment. Let us know if you have special shipping options or needs. We are open Monday thru Friday (except holidays) from 9 am to 4 pm Eastern time. International buyers are responsible for any duties or customs fees. Please contact them if you feel they have billed you unfairly as we have no control over their assessment. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
