The eggplant or aubergine is very high in fiber content and so helps the digestive function, and it lowers risk of coronary heart disease. In addition, an eggplant is a great source of potassium, Vitamin C, and protein.
Choose from the varieties we stock, Pea, Round Green, Long Green, Small Round Purple, Round Golden Yellow,White Oblong,
Plant all year round in warm climates, can be grown in pots or in ground
For cooler climates
Start growing indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost. Surface sow the seed and keep moist until the sprouts appear, which can take up to three weeks or so.
Transplant into the garden when weather has settled and soil is warm.
Provide rich soil and ample moisture.
Give eggplants about an inch of water a week.
Pinch back any new blossoms about three weeks before the first expected frost.
This will channel the plants' energy into maturing existing fruits rather than producing new ones that will not survive the frost.
