Item description

Vintage early 1960's Swagerty "Treholipee" Ukulele. This is the earliest model from 1964, which were mainly sold locally in California, before being distributed/sold nationally in greater numbers. The main differences with the original early model is that these were longer in length than those made afterwards, they also tended to have sharper edges whereas those that followed were "softened" or more rounded at the edges. These were also painted in solid colors, while those that came afterwards were color-stained to where the wood grain was visible. This also has a wooden fret board, while they were later all plastic. The tuning forks are plastic. These 1964 models are rare and much harder to find. This particular Treholipee was in Swagerty's own collection, up until the mid-1980's. It's in very good condition, but there is some minor paint flaking and small dings here there, mainly along some of the edges, but nothing bad. It would be an easy piece to restore. Also one of the strings has snapped, but is still there. Price includes shipping and insurance.
