SAINTS SINNER AND BEECHERS
by Lyman Beecher Stowe
The Bobbs-Merrill Co., Stated First Edition, 1934
Condition: About Very Good
A family biography of the Beechers, covering from 1738 to 1907, written by a descendant of the most famous of them, Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of UNCLE TOM'S CABIN. In all, there are sections on twelve members of this early American family, with special emphasis on Harriet and her brother, Henry Ward Beecher. In addition, there are an Epilogue, Appendix, Bibliography and Index, plus 37 plates -- photos and illustrations of and relating to the Beecher family. 450 pages. As a bonus (not present in the original book), laid in is a 1921 reprint of a sermon on church music delivered by Henry Ward Beecher in 1872.
Some flaking of the gold leaf illustration on the front cover spine, wear on the lower cover corners and light bumping on the upper corners, rather light spine end wear, some light edge bumping; pages are nice and binding is secure; tiny stains and some soiling on page edges; former owner's writing on front rear end papers and small stamped letters on rear pastedown. No dust jacket. Still, a decent copy.
