Item description

Georgiy Ivanovich Firtich was born in 1938 in Pskov, where he studied in music school. In 1957 he graduated from the Music College at (Leningrad) St. Peters burg Conservatoire (composition classâ??B. Mozhzhevelov), and in 1962â?? from St. Petersburg Conservatoire, where he studied under Yu. Balkashin and B. Arapov. In 1962 Firtich became the member of Composers' Union. Though Firtich works almost as the serious music composer, he also writes for theatre, cinema and TV. Firtich may be called our Age symbol. His creativity, embodies the whole epoch, existing in it, vividly changing together with it and influenced by internal irrational psychological forces, which are meanwhile controled by the highest Universal ones. Demanding active perceptive process, Firtich's music arouses the listener's mind, making , it burst into its strongest emotions. Firtich is also marked by the same ample way of either variety pieces or piano sonata decisions. Being very popular, his variety music bases on public tastes and makes the listeners understand modern music most eloquent achievements at the same time. As Firtich's aesthetic principles have much in common with Music Avantgarde, he masterfully constructs the most keen psychological states of mind. Interested in human mind's problems, Firtich describes by the means of sounds either some vague dream ("The Elegy" from "Spring Songs", poems by V. Khlebnikov, 1997 y.) or utmost outrageous ecstasy of shaman performance (Quintet-fantasia "Musical Therapy", 1999 y.). Firtich's music language is full of extraordinary, nearly magic sound and rhythmical effects. But it's not only for to deny traditions. Firtich invents new sound spheres just feeling so, sincerely considering it necessary for his individuality requirements. That's why Firtich's music is instantly recognized by the listeners, repassing vitality and energy to their hearts.
