Item description

Shadow Hawk by Andre Norton (1970 Mass Market Paperback) Author: Andre Alice Norton (1912–2005) Publisher: Ace Books New York, NY U.S.A. 1970? When his position at court is usurped by his half brother, a young Egyptian nobleman seeks to regain his standing through military victories against the enemy. Andre Alice Norton (born Alice Mary Norton, 1912–2005) was an American writer of science fiction and fantasy, who also wrote works of historical fiction and contemporary fiction. She wrote primarily under the pen name Andre Norton, but also under Andrew North and Allen Weston. She was the first woman to be Gandalf Grand Master of Fantasy, first woman to be SFWA Grand Master, and first inducted by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame. Mass Market paperback has complete cover with no reading creases in spine nor cover, minor indents from storage. Interior is tight, clean and unmarked. Carefully read - then stored. Size: 12mo - over 6 - 7" tall, 224pp. Condition: Near Fine (As New) Paperback – Always Privately Owned. Copyright 1960. 1st published by Harcourt, Brace World, Inc. No edition/print-run info given in this copy. Estimated print date of 1970 because early form SBN used on spine (441-75991-075). Ace catalog: 75991. No ISBN nor LCCN. MSR = $0.75. Notes on Condition/Edition ratings: Fine – means like new, but any book produced over 10 years ago isn't “brand new”. Booksellers needed some word to describe this... Like New – A new book, no marks no damage (except maybe remainder marks or shelf-wear) except not obtained directly from the publisher or in packaging from the publisher. Very Good – How you or I might take care of a book, closer to “as new” than standard. Might show ownership. Good – How someone else might take care of a book. Also referred to as “standard.” The most likely condition for books of this age title, shows the book has been read or previously owned. Acceptable – How a child, student or a librarian might take care of a book. (Either trying to make sure someone doesn't steal it by plastering ownership everywhere, filled it with copious notes or a book that has been damaged.) Poor – Combination of “acceptable” factors above. Most likely with water damage as well. Might have missing pages (you should ask). Near – Means “almost” in an optimistic sense. e.g., “Near Fine” means very good, but on the high end. 1st Thus – Unique somehow, maybe 1st paperback, new illustrator, misprint or even the 1st edition. A collector might desire this copy. Thanks for looking!
