Item description

Sacred Heart of Jesus ? Figure of Jesus with Filigree ? 3 Sizes ? based on a Vintage French Holy Card ? Archival Quality "Behold this Heart which has loved men so much, which has spared them nothing, even until it is consumed, to show you its love" is the translation of the quote on the front, and it comes from the diaries of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690). She had visions of Jesus in which he revealed to the Church and the world his Sacred Heart. Through her, Jesus invited us to enter his Sacred Heart, his interior life. To give you a sense of what that means, this is how St. Margaret Mary describes what happened before the start of her first vision. "I was praying before the Blessed Sacrament, when I felt myself wholly penetrated with that Divine Presence, but to such a degree that I lost all thought of myself and of the place where I was, and abandoned myself to this Divine Spirit, yielding up my heart to the power of His Love."And it just gets deeper, because our Lord is infinitely deep. This lovely image from a vintage holy card helps us be reminded of Jesus's invitation. Blanchard in Orleans was one of the few major holy card publishers in France outside of Paris. Their art is more Victorian than their peers, but they produced some of the most beautiful holy cards ever made. This one, with all its filigree, reminds of us one of our favorite holy card series, but there is a delicacy and a color palette in this one which we think is quite beautiful. We're not sure which one we like better. We think this one was printed about 1900, perhaps a few years after the others. (source: ewtn.com)** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt. - Acid-free paper- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.- Cardboard backer- Above story of the art- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag. Thanks for your interest! Thanks!Sue John"In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the Church needs art." ~ St. Pope John Paul IIOriginal image is out-of-copyright.
