Item description
Vintage original 11x14 in. U.S. lobby card, fine+ condition.
The silent film melodrama SHIP OF SOULS, released in 1925 by Associated Exhibitors Inc. and directed by Charles Miller, was based upon the western novel by Emerson Hough. The film co-stars Lillian Rich and Bert Lytell in a story about bigamy and divorce which is set in Canada. The story was written by the famed author Emerson Hough, who wrote The Covered Wagon, which was released by Paramount in 1923. The image features a close shot of Lytell (as Langley Barnes) wearing a head set while talking on a vintage radio transmitter which is sitting on the rustic table next to him outside a log cabin as Captain Churchill (Cyril Chadwick) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police listens in on the conversation.
It is unrestored in fine+ condition with light signs of wear on the tip of each corner; a 0.75 in. area of wear along the top border near the top left corner with two 1/8 in. vertical tears on the top border; a 0.75 in. area of wear on the edge of the top of the right border with a light 1 in. curved crease in the bottom beneath it; random areas of wear along the edge of the bottom third of the right border; and a 0.75 in. diagonal crease on the bottom left corner. The color tinting is fresh and vibrant.
According to a blurb on IMBd, this film was shot in Hollywood in a single-strip stereoscopic (3D) process developed by producer Max O. Miller and released on December 20, 1925.
