During the Vietnam War, U.S. troops were known to buy the 6105-8110 at Post Exchanges on military bases in Southeast Asia. Many were worn through combat and made their way back to the U.S on the wrists of services members after their tours were complete. In 1979 the film 'Apocalypse Now' was released, the character Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) famously wears a 6105-8110 throughout the film. This combination of history and film nostalgia is one of the main reasons the 6105 has become so popular.
