Item description
This is a vintage 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy copy photograph (not a vintage original photo printed at the time it was taken) from the classic silent film railroad-themed western drama, SAND, released in 1920 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Lambert Hillyer. Railroad station agent Dan Kurrie (William S. Hart) is fired from his job by his rival in love, Joseph Garber (G. Raymond Nye). Believed false by the girl he loves, Margaret (Mary Thurman), Kurrie must prove himself by unmasking a gang of bandits preying on the trains.
The image features an exterior long shot of railroad station agent Dan Kurrie (William S. Hart) as he maintains a huge vintage locomotive by putting oil on various of the movable parts. Printed from the original negative, most likely in the 1950's, this vintage copy photograph is in very fine+ condition without any, pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws. The image quality is razor-sharp with very fine detail and great contrast. A great vintage image for train collectors and fans of railroad memorabilia.
It was on t
his film that cinematographer Joseph H. August became the first person to have "ASC" (American Society of Cinematographers, of which he was an original member) listed after his name in an onscreen credit.
