Item description

Flawless commissioned commemorative tea pot for the Tax Enough Already Party rally in Washington DC, a watershed event in the evolution of small Government activism in America. Quarter is shown for scale, does not ship. Hall Pottery merged with Homer Laughlin (just across the Ohio River) in March of 2010 and there is little doubt that negotiations for the merger were ongoing when this pot was producted. Homer Laughlin produced at least one commemorative tea pot with this same decal on it (see our other items). The Taxpayer March on Washington (also known as the 9/12 Tea Party) was a TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party protest march from Freedom Plaza to the United States Capitol held on September 12, 2009, in Washington DC. The event coincided with similar protests organized in various cities across the nation. The protesters rallied against Big Government and the dismantling of free market capitalism, abortion, Pres. Obama's health care reform proposal including the tax hikes, out of control spending and related issues. Crowd estimates varied widely, depending on the source, but there is no doubt that this event raised sufficient public awareness to result in a Democrat Party "shellacking" as Presiden Obama put it; leading to Republican control of Congress and limiting the expansion of Government under Mr. Obama by creating what were regarded by Democrats as an overbearing restriction on spending, and which Mr. Obama was to later take credit for when touting his record on spending when running for office again. This lovely Hall 4 cup teapot was commissioned to memorialize this event and sold at local tea party events, which, contrary to the reports in Wikipedia (quoted above) were held in practically every city and town in the Mid Atlantic States where Homer Laughlin is located. The Tea Party Teapot is rare in commerce--this is the only example we've seen in years of buying and selling Fiesta, and not a single example is recorded on the internet. Shipping is included within the USA within the continental 48 states. Additional postage may be required for APO, Alaska and HI.
