Beautiful glaze tones of brown and ivory on this set of Shishi or Foo Dog figurines. Foo Dogs aren?t actually dogs at all, but rather Chinese guardian lions known as Shishi. ?They are iconic images of pre-modern China, and have traditionally stood outside of imperial palaces and homes of the wealthy. They are believed to have powerful protective benefits.? The figurines were estate-owned and are in excellent vintage condition.
