Item description

Brand new factory sealed vhs tape is great for old school TVs as the image will fill your square screen. Pop-n-go retro video is fuss free with no menus to mess with. The uncompressed audio also sounds better than its digital counterpart. Pat Conroy's sprawling southern-fried saga is neatly pared down to essentials in this tale of the dysfunctional Wingo family, whose dark tragedies are gradually revealed as twins Tom and Savanah come to grips with personal demons under the ministering aid of psychiatrist Streisand. Nolte is both compelling and believable as a man who keeps a lifetime of harrowing memories bottled up inside--until he's forced to spill them to her in order to help save his suicidal sister. Bravura performance by Nolte in what may be his best role to date; Streisand is restrained although a subplot dealing with her bad marriage and rebellious son is a welcome distraction. Jason Gould (real life son of Streisand and Elliott Gould) plays Barbara's teenage son. The South Carolina low country, and even New York City, never looked better.
