Item description

Oliver Stone Collection DVD (2001) Kevin Costner, Stone (DIR) cert 15 Title: Oliver Stone Collection Leading Actor: Kevin Costner Duration: 499 mins Format: DVD / Box Set Type: DVD Studio / Publisher: Warner Bros. Home Ent. UK Release Date: 04 Jun 2001 Edition: Box Set Four films from director Oliver Stone. 'JFK' tells the story of New Orleans DA Jim Harrison (Kevin Costner) and his quest to discover the truth about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The film was released on a wave of controversy and led to calls for Congress to re-open government records from the 1977 House Select Committee on the assassination. It gained several Oscar nominations and won Stone a Golden Globe award for Best Director. The version included here is the Director's Cut, which features 17 minutes of footage not present in the original release. In 'Any Given Sunday', Stone sets out to lift the lid on the world of American pro football. The story focuses on the Miami Sharks, currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak which has brought team president Christina Pagniacci (Cameron Diaz) into conflict with coach Tony D'Amato (Al Pacino). When the next game in the season proves a victory, it leads to further problems when the star player Willie Beaman (Jamie Foxx) lets his success goes to his head and begins to overrule the coach. Battling both the increasing pressure exerted by the power-hungry Christina and the disrespect he is receiving from the arrogant Willie, Tony knows it's going to be a struggle to get the team in shape in time for the all-important playoff game against Dallas. In 'Heaven and Earth', the final film in Stone's Vietnam trilogy, a young Vietnamese woman named Le Ly (Hiep Thi Le) is forced to leave the village where her family has lived for countless generations, after the actions of the Americans and the Viet Cong make life there impossible. She moves to Saigon, where she begins working as a prostitute and meets US soldier Steve Butler (Tommy Lee Jones). The pair marry and return to America, where Le Ly must attempt to begin her life afresh amidst the supermarkerts and swimming pools of California. The box set also includes the documentary 'Oliver Stone's America'. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
