Both films were made in the 1960s and the color is faded. Indepth Information About This Video River Force This film focuses on time spent aboard the modified LCM that the Vietamese Navy used as a command post and for gunfire support along the canals and rivers of the Mekong Delta and in coastal waters. There is also footage of Saigon seen from a helicopter and of the six bases from which the River Force operated. Advisors are also seen relaxing with their Vietnamese counterparts. Coastal Junk Force This film focuses on footage of the motorized junks used by the Vietnamese Navy for patrol, surveillance and anti-infiltration work. A junk is shown stopping and searching small craft along the coast. There are also scenes of the four coastal zone headquarters, including Da Nang and Nha Trang. Film footage is also included of the bases for Coastal Group 37 and Coastal Group 14, the base at Phu Quoc Island in the Gulf of Thailand, and a repair and maintenance facility. An advisor is shown training Vietnamese enlisted men in how to fire and maintain the .30-caliber machinegun, and there are scenes showing the advisor in his quarters, visiting a village market, and being involved with medical and civic aid.
