Item description
SoVintageous is offering this wonderful handmade Navajo Old Pawn cuff bracelet of sterling silver with Candelaria turquoise and Mediterranean red coral. Found in thin veins in the Candelaria Hills, Nevada, Candelaria turquoise was only mined sporadically over the years. Red coral is not available in the waters around the United States, so, the coral used in Native American jewelry would have been sourced from coral trade beads brought by Europeans. The coral was harvested from the Mediterranean.
Old Pawn jewelry stems from the practice of using the jewelry as a means of funding various situations within the Native American communities. If, for example, there were a family medical emergency that required cash, the jewelry would be pawned for cash and later redeemed. This jewelry was the treasured personal property of the family and was not necessarily created or worn just for adornment, but also as a protector of good health and for use in traditional ceremonies. It typically was of great sentimental value and much of it would have been passed down through the family. The pawned jewelry was held by the "trader" for a pre-agreed period and was usually recovered by the owner within this time. However, on some occasions, the jewelry was not redeemed and, once the holding period has passed, the trader would put the piece out for sale to their money.
Old Pawn jewelry has history unlike other Native American jewelry that was made for sale to the tourists. As Old Pawn was made for personal use, not for sale, it was commonly unmarked, as is the case with this bracelet. It has tested positive for sterling silver.

As it is preferable to most vintage/antique jewelry collectors that older pieces maintain their patina I don't polish vintage/antique pieces. However, if you prefer to have the bracelet polished, please let me know and I will shine it up before I mail it to you.
It is extremely important to me that you are satisfied with your purchase, so, if the bracelet is not as described, please contact within 5 days of receipt (I cannot process a refund if you do not contact me prior to any return) and return it to me in the same condition as it was when I send it to you, and I will happily refund your payment, including original S H.
As with any pre-owned items, there may be signs of age. I do my utmost to take and present photos that accurately depict the item for sale, including any blemishes/damage. If you have any questions prior to purchase, please let me know and I will get back to you asap. I'm afraid that I cannot offer refunds for buyer's remorse, failure to read terms or descriptions, or for not asking questions not answered in the listing.
