Monk at the Organ ? "In His Seclusion" ? Georg von Hoesslin ? Catholic Art ? Catholic Gift ? Archival Quality
"In His Seclusion"Georg von HoesslinFor this monk, playing music in church is a from of prayer, and it brings him joy. In a different version of this picture, instead of the gorgeous stained glass, the artist had sketched in two angels behind him, singing along. As we dive into deep prayer, we almost always are given peace and satisfaction, and sometimes experience Heavenly delight. Georg von Hoesslin (1851-1923) was born in Budapest to German parents and was raised in the USA, where he was trained as a businessman to follow his father. When he was 19 or 20, however, he moved to Europe to study art. Eventually he settled in Munich and had a long career painting portraits, landscapes, and historical paintings. He occasionally slipped off to do something "thematic" like this charming contemplation of the joys of music and prayerful solitude. The angels version is not a finished painting, just a b w sketch. ** IMPORTANT ** The image is smaller than the paper! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11, or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. The border gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in frames without using a matt. - Acid-free paper- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.- Cardboard backer- Above story of the art- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
