"Mandarin Ducks" by Soviet artist Ivan Koslov, the 1989 USSR Duck Stamp Print, a Historic "First of Country" with 2 matching stamps and a COA. Part of a strictly limited edition of 5,000 artist signed and numbered prints worldwide. Endorsed by the National Wildlife Federation. It's hard to find vintage stamp prints like this one that are still in near mint condition, in their original folders, and have never been framed.
Image size of the print is 6 1/2" X 8 3/4" and overall size, including the white border, is 13 3/4' X 14 1/2"
About the Artist:
Kozlov Ivan Alexandrovich (August 27, 1920 ? 2015)
Soviet artist, student of Honored Artist of the RSFSR N.P. Shlein. He was born in the village of Yurtsevo, Vladimir region. In 1938 he entered the Kostroma Art School, at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War he volunteered for the front, for military merits and courage he was awarded orders and medals. He participated in the battle for the defense of Moscow. In the reconnaissance detachment of the artillery regiment as a gunner passed with battles from Volokolamsk to East Prussia. In 1946, returning to Kostroma, he graduated from the school and, as one of the best graduates, until 1960 he remained in the educational institution as a teacher of drawing, painting and composition. During his many years of pedagogical work, Kozlov trained dozens of qualified teachers of drawing and drawing of secondary school. A number of his students later became famous artists and members of the Union of Soviet Artists. In his work he adheres to the realistic traditions of the Russian art school. Works in the genre of portrait, historical and genre painting and landscape painting. Since 1940, Ivan Kozlov has been a regular participant in regional art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists since 1968. The collection of the Alexander Art Museum contains about two hundred works transferred by the author, some of them in a permanent exhibition. The artist?s paintings are also in the collections of art museums of Kostroma, Soligalich, in private collections in Russia and abroad: Germany, France, Japan, USA.
