Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the lavishly mounted silent film costume drama/romance, MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE, released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Sidney Olcott. When M. Beaucaire (Rudolph Valentino), a handsome barber, catches the Duke of Winterset (Ian Maclaren) cheating at gambling, Beaucaire exacts Winterset's cooperation in sneaking Beaucaire into a great ball, disguised as the Duke de Chartres, and to introduce him to the beautiful Lady Mary (Doris Kenyon). The disguised barber successfully pulls off the masquerade and is soon the toast of society. But Winterset is embittered at having been blackmailed so, and he sets out to destroy Beaucaire if he can do so without revealing his own duplicity. The cast includes Bebe Daniels, Lois Wilson, Lowell Sherman, Paulette Duval, John Davidson, Oswald Yorke, and Flora Finch. The image features an interior shot of the handsome Duke de Chartres (Rudolph Valentino) being introduced to Madame Pompadour (Paulette Duval) by Miropoix (Oswald Yorke) as three beautiful young women gaze longingly at the handsome nobleman. It is in fine+ condition with a small "ding" on the bottom left corner in the borders only and a few small scratches from handling which are unobtusive. The image quality is very sharp with fine detail and beautiful contrast.
