LUCY GORDON REED & HUSBAND LEWISTON MAINE CABINET CARD PHOTO
|
Antique Cabinet Card Photograph. These photos were removed from a family photo album. The album pages identified the individuals as Lucy Gordon Reed and her husband identified only as (Mr.) Reed. The album pages further stated that Lucy was the sister of Ellen Gordon and Frank Gordon. Photos both by Larock Studio, Lewiston, Maine. Measures approximately 4.25 X 6.5 including mount. Condition: These are original photographs, not reproductions. They are in excellent condition.
Comments: This photograph comes from a family album that belonged to the Omar Bond Merrow estate. Omar was born April 2, 1880 and attended school at Littlefield Corner in Auburn, Maine. He died in December, 1963. His family genealogy is recorded in the book, "Richard Pinkham of Old Dover, New Hampshire and His Descendants East and West," by Charles Nelson Sinnett. Omar was married to Harriet "Hattie" Lufkin Haskell on March 8 or 9, 1909. The couple lived near Auburn, Maine. Merrow was a successful businessman in Auburn who had a large scale cattle business. The family is still memorialized by the street name "Merrow Road" in Auburn. Other family surnames appearing in the album besides Merrow include Palmer, Harvey, Smith, Reed, Gordon, Allen, McCarthy, Getchell, and Morey.
