Livermore California City Crest Rodeo Lawrence Lab Vineyards Green Coffee Mug
This is a new, unused mug bearing the city crest of Livermore, a city in Alameda County, in Northern California. Livermore is the most populous city in the Tri-Valley, located on the eastern edge of California's San Francisco Bay Area. The mug is dark green with the crest imprinted on the front in 22K gold. The crest features the city's most recognizable industries, an atomic symbol for the Lawrence Livermore National Lab and Sandia National Labs, the city's two largest employers, grapes which represent the local Vineyards and wine industry, and a bucking bronco with Cowboy for the Livermore ranches and annual Rodeo. It says Livermore, California - County of Alameda around the outer edge, and Incorporated 1876. The mug stands 3.75 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter and holds 10 ounces.
Livermore was registered on November 4, 1869, as a railroad town by William Martin Mendenhall and named for Robert Livermore, his friend and a local rancher who settled in the area in the 1840s. Incorporated in 1876, Livermore is the home of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, for which the chemical element livermorium is named, placing the city's name in the periodic table. It is also the California site of Sandia National Laboratories, which is headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Its south side is home to local vineyards. Livermore's culture retains the farming, winegrowing, and ranching traditions that have existed in the valley since the time of Robert Livermore, but now largely reflects a suburban population. Since 1918, Livermore has each June hosted the Livermore Rodeo, called the "World's Fastest Rodeo", that claims it has more riders per hour than any other event of its type.
