Item description

Lipton Soup Ad Full Page in Sunday Tabloid, April 7 1942 Through the 1930's and into the early 1940's the Birmingham News-Age Herald published a tabloid size (15 1/2" x 11 5/8") insert in the Sunday edition. In that tabloid were several full page comics, usually including one page with two different Disney strips. In addition to these comics, the tabloid was filled with special feature articles, and occassionally with full page ads like this. Lipton is introducing early the concept of dehydrated condensed soup to the American consumer with a hard sell that certainly reflects the times. This is high acid newspaper stock, and shows darkening from oxidation, and these strips will occasionally be a little ragged on at least one edge. But they are still wonderful examples of early Sunday comics, and if cared for and matted and framed, they make wonderful display and conversation as well as collectible pieces. Weight to ship about 8 oz. USPS First Class Parcel Rate, shipping cost $4.25. Lot ID: lip420405-20090320. Shipping and Handling I ship these newspaper pages sandwiched between two sheets of corrugated cardboard, and mark them please, please do not bend. Insurance is HIGHLY recommended due to the fragile nature of the paper. Rates are bases on First Class Package Rates via U.S. Post Office domestic, Canada, and International (U.K.) rates to cover postage and the cost of postage and materials. I will provide quote on invoice for optional insurance amount. For purchase over $100.00, insurance is required. Buyers outside U.S. may consider registered mail for partial insurance, minimum $11.00 additional charge. I will ship worldwide, but be prepared to pay what it costs for postage and materials and insurance to ship. I can give you quote before sale is closed, or you can always calculate weight and postage and possible insurance at the United States Post Office web site at www.usps.com. Ask for quote before purchase. Who Am I: My name is Ronald D. Edge. I live and work in Bloomington, IN, United States. I am a member of the American Philatelic Society, # 204787.
