Each box is made from a new piece of solid hardwood, which means there is nothing to break. The box will last a lifetime. The outside of the Pill Box has been finished with Lacquer similar to what is used on wood furniture like kitchen tables. Smooth to the touch, Simply wipe with a damp cloth if it becomes dirty. The inside has been finished with Food Grade Mineral Oil with the pill compartments left as bare wood for no strong smells. If the oil starts to wear off then apply a new coat of mineral oil. Many vitamins and medications deteriorate when exposed to light. This box provides storage in a dark environment. Since the box is so large there is enough room to just grab the pills from the compartments when needed or you can tip the pills into your hand while keeping all the other compartments covered by the lids. The top of the box slides on the bottom and is held in place by rare earth magnets. Your pills and vitamins will stay securely in the box. As wood is a natural living product it can be a little unruly; knots, streaking, other blemishes and flaws in the grain can occur during the natural growth of the tree. These may be present in all our products to some degree but we do control for anything that will seriously interfere with the use or look of our items.
