Item description

J.R.R. TOLKIEN'S THE LORD OF THE RINGS Fotonovel, April 1979 First Printing Condition: VG+ to Near Fine Ralph Bakshi was the "bad boy" of '70s animation, especially for his two notorious "Fritz the Cat" films. So he was an interesting choice for directing the long-awaited animated film version of "The Lord of the Rings". The general consensus was that it didn't do justice to the work (it only covered the first volume and half of the second), so the needed followup film was never made. (By the way, the film was co-scripted by none other than Peter S. Beagle!) Next to viewing the DVD, this book is the best record of how the film looked. (The paperback series of Fotonovels used extensive frame blowups of a film (in this case, more than 400), along with just enough narrative and dialogue to allow the reader to follow the plot). The covers of this copy are in about very good condition, with some general wear; the contents are near fine.
