Have you ever crushed a customer's original, or a new blank, trying to cut a Schlage Everest key? We have. Since they are made of nickel silver, they need to be clamped securely or the blank can slip during cutting. Clamp it too tightly, and you crush the undercut portion of the key. There goes an expensive blank into the trash, or worse yet, you damaged the customer's original! On our Hy-Ko Promatic 100 key machine, none of the 4 jaw settings work to overcome this problem. After considerable research, we discovered that the steel pin shim provided by Ilco with their machines worked perfectly to solve the problem. But they are not easy to find, so we are offering our own version here. Here is your solution, complete with free shipping. These shims also work with the tricky Best A (BE2), some vintage European auto keys (including Mercedes) and some Sargent keys that tend to tilt when clamped. They are particularly useful if you have a basic key machine with a single jaw setting, such as the Foley-Belsaw. You get a set of two shims in this sale. These are spring steel and will hold up to years of use. When used with the Hy-Ko Promatic 100 for Everest, set the jaws to "Wide", insert the key with the shim on top, gauge the key to the shoulder, tighten firmly, and you are good to go!
