Jose Luis Sanchez del Río ? Vivid Restoration! ? Exclusive Photo ? 3 Sizes ? Viva Cristo Rey! ? Patron of Children and Adolescents "Jose Luis Sanchez del Río"Exclusive Restored PhotographJose Luis Sanchez del Río (March 28, 1913 - February 10, 1928) was a Mexican Cristero who was killed by government officials because he refused to renounce his Catholic faith. The Cristeros were a popular uprising against the Mexican government's attempt to destroy the Catholic Church in Mexico in order to advance godless socialism. The courage and conviction of Jose can hardly be overstated. Captured in a skirmish between the Cristoros and federal troops, he was ordered to renounce his faith in Christ. He refused. The authorities forced him to watch the hanging of another Cristero, but Jose, instead of renouncing his faith, encouraged the man, saying that they would soon meet again in Heaven after death. The police tortured him in terrible, agonizing ways, but still, he would not turn agonist Christ. Shortly before he died, he shouted, "I will never give in. Viva Cristo Rey!"He was canonized in 2016. He is a Patron Saint of persecuted Christians and children adolescents. We hope this restored photo of Jose, like all the ones we offer in our series, lets you be closer to the Saint, and thus closer to Jesus!** IMPORTANT ** IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER!!
