Vintage original 27x41 in. US one-sheet poster from the 1970's WWII-themed drama/romance, YANKS, released in 1979 by Universal Pictures and directed by John Schlesinger. The cast includes Richard Gere, Vanessa Redgrave, William Devane, Lisa Eichhorn, Rachel Roberts, Chick Vennera, Arlen Dean Snyder, and Annie Ross. The relations between American (Yanks) forces in Britain is the theme as a US soldier falls in love with a British woman The design is interesting in that while we don't see the faces of Richard Gere or Vanessa Redgrave, the film's main theme of the love between a US soldier and an Englishwoman is effectively conveyed by the insignia on his uniform and the flag in her hand. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, this vintage original one-sheet is in very fine condition without any pinholes, tears, stains, other other flaws. The film is celebrated every year in August in one of it's filming locations in Saddleworth, Lancashire, England, where people dress up in authentic WW2 uniforms and a parade of war vehicles and planes takes place.
