Item description

Antique Cabinet Card Photograph. Depicting John K. Plummer. (We are also including a photo of a baby identified only as "Aunt Jane" which we will explain later.) He was born in 1841 in Maine. He married Mary Butterfield (1848-1971) on April 19, 1866. Later he married Jennie Phebe Fowler (1838-1922) on September 11, 1871. John K. Plummer was the son of Elliott Plummer (1808-1876) and Almira Dunham (1809-1889). John's siblings included: Joseph Lewis Plummer, Robert Plummer, Abigail Bates Plummer, Jane West Plummer, and Lucinda D. Plummer. His children included William L. Plummer and Mae Elizabeth Plummer. John lived in Casco and Comstock, Michigan, and died on September 19, 1922 in Kalamazoo, Michigan at the age of 81. Also included with purchase is a photo of a baby identified only as "Aunt Jane" which was taken in a studio in South Haven, Michigan. It is highly likely she is connected to John K. Plummer who is the only individual in the known family that resided in Michigan. Perhaps someone more immersed in this particular family line will be able to make a positive connection. Measures approximately 4.25 x 6.5 including mount. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. It has a fair amount of foxing (age spotting). Comments: This photo came from a large collection of inter-related family images including the surnames Plummer, Hewey, Jones, Cleaves, Hodgkins, Rollins, Butterfield, Hilton, Maxwell, Bond, Dodge, Winters, and Conroy. The primary progenitors of these families are Andrew Jackson Hewey (1835-1882), Elliot Plummer (born 1808), Jane West Plummer (1837-1919), and William Samuel Cleaves (1843-1916). We have added several photos of these families to our inventory, all listed and sold separately. Additional Information: The Plummer line of photos we have listed and are for sale separately include: the progenitor of this Plummer family John K. Plummer (1841-1922); and also Mrs. Almira Dunham Plummer (ca. 1809-1889) wife of Elliot Plummer; a few photos of Clifton A. Plummer (taken in Gardiner, Maine and elsewhere); Ida E. Jones Plummer; Malo Plummer, daughter of Bernie and Amy Plummer (taken in Auburn, Maine); Lucinda D. Plummer Butterfield and her husband Hamlin R. Butterfield (taken in Phillips, Maine); Jane West Plummer Hewey (taken in Gardiner, Maine); and Lillian Mabel Plummer (daughter of Joseph and Eleanor "Nellie" E. Houghton Plummer) and her husband Cleff Maxwell (taken in New Vineyard and Farmington, Maine).
