Hopi LEFT HANDED HUNTER KACHINA DOLL, 11" Katsina Museum Quality, Marlin Pinto
For your consideration is this magnificent museum quality hand carved Left Handed Hunter kachina doll by award winning Hopi carver Marlin Pinto. Marlin Pinto is a Zuni/Hopi carver who is especially well known
for his Koshare Clowns, although he carves a variety of kachina dolls. He has
won many awards and is very sought after for the consistent high
quality of his work.
This gorgeous museum quality kachina doll was hand carved out of top grade cottonwood and hand painted with dyes made from natural materials off the reservation. The colors are crisp and the details are precise. This rendition by Marlin depicts the Left Handed Hunter in traditional wardrobe of leather cape and boots with colorings of the koshare clown in black and white outfit. He holds the bow in one hand and a knife in the other with a quiver of arrows on his back.
This fabulous Left Handed Hunter kachina stands about 11" tall and signed by the famous award winning Hopi master carver Marlin Pinto. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
A fantastic museum quality Left Handed Hunter Kachina doll by world famous Hopi carver Marlin Pinto to add to or start your kachina collection!
* The Left-Handed Katsina (Siyangephoya) is said by some to be derived from the Hualapai Indians. He carries his gear opposite of regular Katsinam (he must use his right hand rather than his left to draw an arrow from the quiver). This Katsina moves with strange bobbings and little mincing steps. Despite his odd behavior he is an excellent hunter and some consider him quite powerful. In carvings he is often shown holding an eagle or with a deer draped over his shoulder demonstrating his hunting prowess. *
